Maggie Francis brings a wealth of clinical expertise, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York. Her pursuit of specialized training further led her to complete a postgraduate certificate in Psychoanalytic therapy at The National Institute for Psychotherapy, as well as a certificate in family and play therapy at New York University.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Maggie’s extensive clinical experience since 2002 has been focused on trauma, attachment wounds, grief, loss, depression, and anxiety. She is comprehensively trained in EMDR, IFS, Neurofeedback, and Safe and Sound approaches. Her professional journey has taken her through diverse settings and client populations, including roles at The Brooklyn VA, NYU Langone OPD, Brookdale and LICH hospitals, and the Jewish Board. Here, she gained invaluable experience working with adults and families grappling with the effects of trauma, mood disorders, depression, and anxiety.

Maggie’s dedication to trauma processing and healing was ignited during a pivotal moment in history. The morning of September 11, 2001, while she was training at the VA hospital, marked a seismic shift. Witnessing the unfolding events, the reactions of those around her, and the subsequent emergency response, imprinted a deep passion for trauma work that continues to drive her today.

In her therapeutic approach, Maggie provides a safe and empathetic space for self-exploration, discovery, and healing. She believes in the profound impact our experiences have on shaping who we are, and encourages clients to understand the intricate connections between their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and daily choices. The therapeutic process is a collaborative journey based on trust and safety, where clients are empowered to gain insight into their inner workings and develop coping mechanisms for personal growth.

Maggie’s eclectic approach to treatment is tailored to each client’s unique needs and presentation. Her specialization in trauma and EMDR reflects her passionate commitment to helping clients navigate through challenges related to Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Trauma, Relationship Issues, and childhood trauma. Her ultimate goal is to equip clients with the tools to manage daily life, overcome stressors, and reach their personal goals.
