Flory is a Houston native and LPC-Associate who is passionate about supporting children and adolescents in their journey toward healing and growth. Her love for working with young people began while serving children and families at a women’s center, where she witnessed the profound impact of creating a safe, nurturing space for kids to process their experiences at their own pace.
Her primary approach is Child-Centered Play Therapy, emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship and honoring each child’s unique way of expressing themselves. She believes that healing happens within safe relationships and that a child’s connection to their caregivers is a vital part of the process. She strives to support not only her young clients, but the entire system surrounding them. In addition to play therapy, she is currently training in TraumaPlay® Therapy, a model designed to help children work through difficult experiences in a developmentally sensitive way.
Flory earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and her Master of Education in Counseling, both from the University of Houston. Due to her background in development, she believes that humans are always moving toward growth, and that change is possible at any stage of life. She sees trauma as only one part of her clients’ stories, not the whole picture, and feels honored to help children and families explore and integrate their experiences.
Outside the therapy room, she is a lifelong learner and a child at heart, who is continually seeking ways to better support the kids and families she serves. In her free time, she loves reading, gaming, and exploring Houston’s newest food spots.
